To kick off Women’s History Month, I thought it would only be right to highlight some of the amazing women who make The Beacon the wonderful newspaper that it is. I asked them to give me an insight on what being a woman means to them.

“For me, being a woman means to carry fire and grace in the same hands, speaking boldly and loving deeply. It means nurturing, building, leading, creating, and turning quiet resilience into something loud enough to change rooms, stories, and headlines.”

“I love being a woman and being a part of the bond that is girlhood. It does not matter who you are, how well you know each other, or even how you feel about the other woman. At the end of the day, we women look out for and support each other because we see each other and understand the hard work we put in every day, and I think that’s beautiful.”
Shyla Murray, Features Editor
Junior, Music & History Double Major
“There is no better way to describe womanhood better than it being a pure force of nature. How could I ever choose the right words to encapsulate the gratitude I feel to have been born into a body and a brain that will forever tie me to the most brilliant and beautiful minds under the sun?”
Ava Schramm, Social Media Editor

“To be a woman is to be expressive and break boundaries. We get the chance to accomplish great achievements while having the chance to impress all around us.”
Jenna Sheridan, Opinions Editor

“Being a woman to me means that I can always find community with other strong women and always having someone to connect with over both the beauties and the struggles we encounter.”

“To be a woman is to carry both warmth and will. And if outside judgment is inevitable, then our authenticity should be too.”
