On Tuesday, June 30, Billboard updated its charts for the week of July 4.
Looking at charts such as the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200, Billboard Artist 100 and Songs of the Summer, there is a pattern of the same artists, songs, and albums in the higher spots.
Billboard Hot 100
After sitting at the second spot in the Billboard Hot 100 last week, “Choosin’ Texas” by Ella Langley has gone up to number one. This brought “I Knew It, I Knew You” down to two after it had been sitting at number one since its debut on the chart the week of June 20.
On top of being number one, “Choosin’ Texas” is recognized for being the greatest gainer this week, having gains in performance and the biggest gain in digital sales.
Langley is currently holding two other places in the top 10. Her song “Be Her” has gone from five to three. “I Can’t Love You Anymore”, her song with Morgan Wallen, has gone from 14 to nine, with recognition for gains in performance.
Olivia Rodrigo’s two songs in the top 10 have both dropped down a spot in the chart, but are still sitting in the top five. “stupid song” is at four, while “drop dead” is at five. Just behind “drop dead” is “Janice STFU” by Drake, which has gone up a spot since the previous week.
The remaining songs in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 this week are “hate that i made you love me” by Ariana Grande at seven, “Man I Need” by Olivia Dean at eight and “Dracula” by Tame Impala and JENNIE at 10, which has had the biggest gain in airplay after being at 18 last week.
Billboard 200
This week in the Billboard 200, not a single album dropped or rose in the top 10, making their placements rock solid.
“you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love”, Rodrigo’s latest album, stayed at number one after debuting on the chart at that spot last week. “ICEMAN” by Drake follows just behind at number two and “Dandelion” by Langley follows at three.
Wallen and Michael Jackson currently have two albums in the top 10. For Wallen, “I’m The Problem” is number four and “One Thing At A Time” is number eight. For Jackson, “Thriller” is number six and “Number Ones” is number seven.
The remaining spots in the top 10 include “The Great Divide” by Noah Kahan at five, “The Art of Loving” by Dean at nine and “ARIRANG” by BTS at 10.
Billboard Artist 100
Similar to the Billboard 200 chart, Rodrigo is number one on the Billboard Artist 100 for the second week in a row. Following Rodrigo, Jackson and Drake have swapped places this week, with Jackson going up to second and Drake dropping to third.
Two other artists who swapped spaces are Luke Combs and Kahan. Combs moved up to seven and Kahan dropped to eight.
Artists who remained in the same spot in the top 10 are as follows:
- Morgan Wallen
- Ella Langley
- Taylor Swift
- Bruno Mars
- Olivia Dean
Songs of the Summer
“Choosin’ Texas” is in great standing for the possible song of the summer. Since hitting its peak at number one the week of June 13, it has not yet gone down.
Just as “Choosin’ Texas” has stayed at number one, “Janice STFU” has remained at number two ever since “Choosin’ Texas” took its place at number one.
“I Knew It, I Knew You” took the number three spot from “Be Her”, bringing the song down to number four.
“drop dead” went from eight to six in the chart, bringing “I Just Might” by Bruno Mars down to seven and “Man I Need” to eight.
Songs that stayed in the same place as last week are “hate that i made you love me” at number five, “so easy (to fall in love)” by Dean at nine and “the cure” by Rodrigo at 10.
