On Tuesday afternoon, the Pioneers split a doubleheader against Ramapo College, who sit in second place in the NJAC, at Pioneer Softball Field. The Pioneers won the opener 5-4, rallying from a 4-2 deficit in the seventh inning, before dropping the second game 4-3.
Ramapo opened the scoring in game one with an RBI double in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Pioneers answered later in the inning when freshman second baseman Gianna Capone scored on a throwing error to tie the game. Sophomore pitcher Aubrey Miller followed with an RBI single to drive in junior catcher Megan Tinger and give the Pioneers a 2-1 lead.
Ramapo regained control in the second inning, scoring two runs on a single down the left-field line to take a 3-2 lead. The Roadrunners added another run on an RBI single to extend the advantage to 4-2.
After four scoreless innings, the Pioneers rallied in the bottom of the seventh. Senior shortstop Hailey Backo delivered a two-run double to score Capone and senior outfielder Brandi Shortway, tying the game at four. Senior outfielder Lilah Guthy then ended the game with a walk-off RBI single, scoring Backo.

Miller pitched a complete game in the opener, recording four strikeouts while allowing four runs, two earned, on nine hits with four walks.
Freshman Gabby Morgan started for Ramapo, pitching four innings and allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits with four walks. Senior Brooke Knight worked in relief, giving up three runs on five hits over two innings while striking out two and walking two.
In Game 2, the Pioneers took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Tinger double that scored Backo. Ramapo tied the game in the second on an RBI single.
After a scoreless third inning, the Roadrunners scored twice on a two-run single to take a 3-1 lead, then added another run on a wild pitch to make it 4-1.
The Pioneers responded in the fourth inning when Shortway hit a two-run double to score sophomore designated player Stephanie Ciravolo and senior catcher Gabriella Vasquez, cutting the deficit to 4-3. However, neither team scored the rest of the way.
Guthy started Game 2 for the Pioneers, pitching 3 2/3 innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits with one strikeout and one walk. Senior Kylie Anthony pitched 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing no runs while striking out one and walking two.

Freshman Mikayla McJilton started for Ramapo, pitching four innings and allowing three runs on six hits with three walks and one strikeout. Knight earned the save, pitching three scoreless innings while allowing one hit with two strikeouts and one walk.
The Pioneers are now 13-16 overall and 3-9 in NJAC play, tied for fifth place with Rutgers-Camden. They will host Mount Saint Vincent for a nonconference doubleheader Thursday in Wayne before returning to conference play Saturday against Rowan, which is tied for first place in the NJAC.
