March is Women’s History Month. Established in 1987, this month we celebrate all the suffrage and contributions from women throughout history. If you want to know some ways to show your support this month, here are a couple of events and organizations you can check out.

Event: “Rise & Stride Walk”
On Saturday, March 28, women from all over New Jersey will meet up in Lincoln Park, Jersey City to walk to raise money for their organization. “Women Rising Inc.” is the Hudson County state-designated domestic violence provider. They offer safety, stability, housing assistance, workforce development, youth and family services, and most of all, hope. To register or for more information, here is the attached flyer.
Organization: “Never Alone Again”
“Never Alone Again” is a Teaneck-based Domestic Violence Organization and Resource Center for women and families facing domestic violence. Created in 1999, their mission is to build strength and hope by helping women become self-sufficient. Some of their events include “The Baby Shower Project”, “Toy Drives”, “Food Drives” and more. Here is their Amazon Wish List.
Event: “Girls Just Wanna Have Brunch”
“Girls Just Wanna Have Brunch” is a fun, 21+ way to support women-owned businesses. The event will be held at “Amada” in Atlantic City on March 8. Tickets are $75 for a three-course meal and a complimentary glass of wine upon arrival. There will also be a showcase of live music and women-owned vendors. For more information, visit theoceanac.com.
Organization: “Heart of Hannah”
“Heart of Hannah” was founded in 2004. The organization is based in Clifton, New Jersey and its main purpose is to provide economic and housing empowerment. They offer many programs such as “Rapid Rehousing”, “Strengthening Families” and “Young Entrepreneur Enterprise”. They also provide services that create awareness for social issues through art and drama. Visit their website for more information.
Event: “Let’s Talk Women’s Health & Women Symposium”
On March 14, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey is holding an event to educate the public about women’s health. The breakout sessions will include conversations about physical health issues such as Breast Cancer and Menopause, as well as mental health and wellness, financial stability and relationships. They inform guests about topics that aren’t talked about enough and offer up a new mindset and comfort about life as a woman. Tickets include entry, access to all breakout sessions, access to the Wellness Lounge, a gift bag, breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, fitness classes and the celebratory closing party. Visit letstalkwellwomen.org for information or to purchase a ticket (and yes, there is a student discount).
Organization: “Women In Transition”
Right here in Wayne, there is a program for women who are suffering from domestic abuse, enduring the divorce process, can’t leave their marriage, need to find work or simply need emotional regulation. “Women In Transition” is a program within the “Wayne Counseling & Family Services”. They offer classes and programs that provide employment skills, computer skills, emotional support, after-care, substance abuse treatment and legal advice. They help with emotional counseling and regulation, as well as helping with updating resumes and helping women to get back on their feet. Visit waynecounselingcenter.org to find out more or to donate.
