William Paterson Women’s Basketball picked up two wins last week to improve to 7-0.
The Pioneers opened the week with a nail-biting conference win over Montclair State University. William Paterson led by three at halftime, but Montclair State outscored the Pioneers 13-8 in the third quarter to move ahead.
The fourth quarter remained tight. With under six minutes left, the Pioneers trailed by seven, but they reclaimed the lead in the final minute and held on for a 65-60 victory.
Graduate forward Megan Sears led William Paterson with 20 points.
The Pioneers’ second win of the week came in another conference matchup, this time against Stockton University. William Paterson led wire-to-wire, building a 10-point advantage during the second and third quarters.
Senior forward Renee Wells scored a team-high 21 points. Senior forward Patty Walsh pulled down eight rebounds, and junior guard Jada Jacobs finished with three steals.
The Pioneers are off to their best start since the 2011-12 season, when they opened the year 15-0.
