This Friday, October 3rd, William Paterson’s Radio Station, 88.7 Brave New Radio, is preparing to celebrate the 15th annual College Radio Day. The event was initially founded by Dr. Rob Quicke, the former chair of the William Paterson Communication Department and General Manager of Brave New Radio. Yes, College Radio Day was founded right here at William Paterson, and it has spread all around the world as a day to spread awareness and celebrate the beauty of College Radio.

This year, Brave New Radio is preparing to bring you 24 hours of live programming, starting
Friday at midnight, to celebrate College Radio Day and raise awareness on campus and in the community. The day will begin with Sophomore Jazz student Eli Leder, who will play some of his favorite Jazz records and albums from 12:00 to 2:00 am. College Radio Day will feature various programs from William Paterson students, encompassing a wide range of music genres. On top of that, your favorite Sports Programs will cover the current week of William Paterson Pioneer sports, as well as the hottest topics in the professional sports world.
Some of the students who are on Brave New Radio gave their insights on what College Radio Day means to them. Co-Promotions Director, Victoria Rogerio, stated that it’s her “third College Radio Day, the second being on-air, and this day brings a lot of joy and excitement to me. Doing a full day of special programs really bonds everyone at the station, and that’s what I honestly love about it. We don’t only do what we already love doing, but we are all there supporting our friends, college radio in general, and having fun hour by hour, show by show”.

Another student, Alexa Topolski, Co-Promotions Director, spoke about how “College Radio Day is a day full of fun, variety of music, and brings together the radio community. This will be my second time having an on-air program during College Radio Day, and it is truly an unforgettable experience. The amount of friends and laughs that I’ve experienced during College Radio Day makes it all worthwhile, especially when being surrounded by music and taking part in something I love”.
