Four weeks into the fall 2025 semester, students at William Paterson University are once again spotting the mysterious figure dressed as Batman has been roaming campus again.
The figure, dressed in a full Batman costume, has been a popular topic on Fizz and instagram.
In an exclusive interview with The Beacon, Batman said the character was chosen for its impact, “His presence is enough to get people to correct their behavior. His presence is enough to get them to do the right thing.” He believed that Spider-Mans presence wouldn’t be as serious.
The mystery figure reveals that staying unidentified is better since it keeps the mystery and fun alive. “If people knew who I was, it’s not fun because they know it’s _____ in a Batman costume and not some person in a Batman costume.”
Walking through campus dressed head to toe as Batman, the student said, feels different than walking around as themselves. He described it as “refreshing and “therapeutic.”
The mystery person explains the different persona they have while in the suit, “it changes my silhouette a lot and it changes your walk. You walk with a kind of force, it’s kinda freeing in a way.”

Batman appreciates the smiles and happiness they make students feel.
The mystery figure is aware of the apps that have exposed Batman’s presence on campus and admires that students look forward to seeing them.
“Some people are thrilled at this scene and some are pretty nonchalant about it. Sometimes, they stop in their tracks and run over and ask if they can get a picture and I have to hide my smile,” said Batman.
Their biggest challenge is attempting to not break character when having funny interactions.
“It’s not who I am that’s important, it’s what I do,” said Batman.
Batman said that they have a special “surprise” for everyone at the end of spring 2026 semester.
