In the eighth edition of the “Off the Court” Q&A’s with players on the William Paterson women’s basketball team, Beacon reporter Daniel Karp interviewed sophomore forward Menna Hafiz. Hafiz is in her second season with the Pioneers after seeing time in all 25 games last year. Hafiz helped Bayonne High School win Hudson County championships in 2019, 2022, and 2023 as well as a state championship in 2023. Her tall frame and rebounding ability should give the Pioneers a lot of second chances at the basket.

My role model was always my mom. She was one of the hardest workers and even when in pain pushed through her family. I aspire to be like her because she is dedicated to the people she loves.

I think that I would be a good psychology professor.

My favorite ride is El Toro because of how it resembles life. There are always going to be ups and downs. Just enjoy that you get to live life with so many benefits.
What is your favorite class this semester, and why?
My favorite class is Race, Gender, and Society, because we can talk about life without being judged or feeling uncomfortable.
If you could learn a new language, what would it be, and why?
Spanish, because I already know Arabic and English.
