The top free agent of the offseason may not be finding a new home just yet. On Friday, September 11, Milwaukee Bucks superstar and likely MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo met with Bucks ownership for a three-hour lunch to discuss theirr future together.

The Bucks were recently eliminated from the playoffs by the Miami Heat after a 5 game series.

The Bucks finished 1st seed in the eastern conference this season, and defeated the Orlando Magic in the first round of the playoffs.

The speculation since the end of last years playoffs was that Antetokounmpo wanted out of Milwaukee. Rumored spots that he would sign are the Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors.

Sources told ESPN that in their meeting, the Bucks ensured Giannis that they are willing to spend big money not only on him, but on pieces to build around him.

Giannis’ agent, Alex Saratsis reportedly gave the Bucks a list of potential personnel upgrades that Antetokounmpo had in mind.

Based on the Bucks current cap situation, Antetokounmpo is in line for a five year, $200-250 million dollar contract. Depending on the amount of money in the contract, Antetokounmpo has the chance to be the highest paid player of all time.

Giannis averaged 29 points, 13.3 rebounds and 5 assists per game during the regular season. He is the frontrunner for the MVP. He won the MVP award last season, potentially making him the first back to back MVP since Tim Duncan in 2002-2003. He is a four time all-star.

The supporting cast around Antetokounmpo hasnt been able to get the job done in recent seasons. Emerging star Khris Middleton was signed to an extenstion last year and they traded for Guard Eric Bleadsoe in 2018, but those moves have not turned into a championship.

Antetokounmpo recently unfollowed all of his Bucks teammates and the Bucks official account on Instagram. Maybe nothing to look into, but could mean something bigger.

He also put out a tweet on September 15, thanking the loyal Bucks fans.

“Thank you Milwaukee for all the love and support you showed my teammates and I this season. You guys are the best fans in the league. I can’t wait for next season!”

This is certanily a positive signs for Bucks fans.

It will be interseting to see how Antetokounmpo plays his hand and makes his decesion for his future team.

The NBA Free Agency begins on October 18.
